CyrusOne among data centre heavyweights to join Host In Ireland

Industry-led initiative experiences significant growth as Ireland’s hosting landscape reaches optimum levels
DUBLIN – 13 March 2019 – Industry-led initiative Host In Ireland is proud to announce one of the largest data centre providers in the world, CyrusOne among its new members. With over 45 data centres worldwide, a €400m investment in Europe and planned construction at Grange Castle Business Park in Dublin, Nasdaq-listed Dallas based CyrusOne’s membership reiterates the robust growth and solidity of the Irish data centre industry. Joining CyrusOne, Host In Ireland is welcoming new members Mitchell McDermot, E+I and The Dataplex Group. The inclusion of members from the supply, design, build, and operations in the data centre space is aligned with Host In Ireland’s dual mission to promote Ireland as an optimum location to host data from and promote the excellence found in Ireland to support companies in expanding globally. The initiative also works to inform global decision makers within the technology and data industries about Ireland’s data hosting calibre and capabilities. Energy knowledge leader David McAuley has been appointed Head of Policy. McAuley has over 20 years experience in industry and energy. He established and runs Bitpower having previously spent almost a decade with Ireland’s National Energy Agency (SEAI). McAuley’s role will be to continue to establish and communicate the policy of Host In Ireland members along with engaging with stakeholders in industry and government. This expansion will see key leaders in the industry join the Host In Ireland executive council. New members include Eddie Kilbane CEO of the Dataplex Group, Anthony McDermott, Director Mitchell McDermott, Tesh Durvasula, President – Europe CyrusOne and Philip O’Doherty, Founder and Managing Director of E+I. The executive council is instrumental in the direction and success of the initiative. According to the most recent Q.4 report produced by Host In Ireland in association with Bitpower, over €9 billion is expected to have been invested in data centres by 2021. This figure reflects Ireland’s attractiveness as a hosting location for tech multi-nationals.
